What Is a Laser and How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?
A laser is a device that produces light of a single color or
wavelength.
In dermatology, these lasers produce pulses of high-energy light
that can be absorbed by a desired target. For hair removal, that
target is the melanin pigment within the hair shaft.
Typically our clients seek lip hair reduction, chin hair removal
and back hair removal.
How Laser Hair Removal Works
During laser hair removal, the clinician presses a hand-held
laser instrument to your skin. He or she may also use a cooling
device on the tip of the laser, or a cool gel to protect your skin,
depending on the type of laser used during the procedure.
The light from the laser passes through your skin's surface to
the hair follicles where hair growth begins. The powerful heat
damages the hair follicle, hindering future hair growth.
Remember, however, that it typically takes several treatments to
achieve permanent hair removal. |
